The former professional hockey player has made headlines including appearing at the Hockey Show to entertain his fans.
On 98.5 The Sports Hub, WBZ-FM, a sports radio station based in Boston, Massachusetts, Byers shared stories from his playing days as a former player for the Boston Bruins.
Originally from Nipawin, Saskatchewan, Byers began his major junior career in 1981 with the Regina Pats of the WHL after one year with the Notre Dame Hounds.
The Boston Bruins recognized his potential and selected him 39th overall in the second round of the 1982 NHL Entry Draft.
Byers’ courageous style of play earned him a spot on the Canadian team at the 1984 World Junior Championships in Nyköping, Sweden.
Promising with 32 consecutive goals in Regina, it was the remarkable penalty minutes (153 and 154) that gave a glimpse of his future professional path.
Joining the Bruins late in the 1983–84 season, Byers contributed two goals and four assists, accumulating 32 penalty minutes.
He fluctuated between the NHL and the minor leagues, with his most notable statistical season coming in 1987-88.
During this season, he collected 10 goals and 14 assists for 24 points while amassing 249 penalty minutes in 53 games.

Lyndon Byers Health Update 2024
Lyndon Byers is in good health in 2024. There are no reports of health problems of any kind. As mentioned above, he recently appeared on a news channel.
After his playing career, Byers returned to the Boston area and joined the Hill-Man Morning Show on WAAF-FM.
He was an on-air personality and sports pundit for 23 years until the show ended.
Byers, along with co-host Mike Hsu, moved to the afternoon slot after the show transitioned.
However, on September 3, 2019, he unexpectedly left the Hsu & LB show, bidding a tearful farewell on air moments before leaving the studio.
WAAF-FM ceased operations less than six months later, and Byers made one final appearance on the station’s last day on the air.
Beyond radio, Byers made notable appearances in the FX comedy-drama Rescue Me alongside Bruins fan Denis Leary, as well as former Bruins Cam Neely and Phil Esposito.
Additionally, he played cameo roles in the films Shallow Hal and Stuck On You. Byers was featured on the first season finale of Bar Rescue on Spike TV.
He and Neely also appeared in the music video for the song “Hole Hearted” by the Boston hard rock band Extreme.
