According to the sheriff’s office, Lifei Huang went on a lonely hike around 2:00 p.m. local time on Sunday and has been missing since then.
The department noted that the woman “had not been heard from since approximately 4 p.m.” and she was reported missing at 11 p.m
According to Li, Huang texted several friends about her intention to climb the mountain, CW station KTLA reported.

When the strongest of last week’s unprecedented storms struck Southern California on Feb. 4, 22-year-old Lifei “Ada” Huang disappeared from sight nearly two hours after walking alone, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner’s Department.
Huang had announced to her loved ones that she would be going on a mountain hike last weekend. And then the big storm came.
On Sunday at 4 p.m. she sent the video to her boyfriend. The photos showed them on the mountain for a short time, prepared for the demanding hike in bad weather.
Mount Baldy received three feet of snow earlier this week. The search for the young woman had to be called off because of the danger of avalanches.
Huang reportedly posted many videos on social media about adverse weather conditions she encountered while hiking. After almost two hours she stopped talking.
In addition, Huang’s friends became worried after she was unable to return home on Sunday evening.
They tried to get to the trailhead, but Li claimed they “couldn’t do anything” without “professional help.”

Lifei “Ada” Huang, a resident of El Monte, was last observed around 2:30 p.m. on February 4, heading out for a hike on Mount Baldy amid heavy rains caused by an atmospheric river that drenched Southern California opened.
Hours later, early Search crews set out Monday morning, but the terrain of the mountain and the dangerous conditions of the storm prevented them from finding her.
After searching for days without finding Huang, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials reported that around 3:30 p.m. Saturday, someone operating a drone nearby believed they saw Huang’s body.
Huang was found dead when Sheriff’s Air Rescue 360 flew medical personnel to the scene around 7:45 a.m. Sunday.
The night before, strong winds in the area prevented a plane search.
But as officials pointed out, team members stayed overnight to protect the crime scene.

After a troubled week-long search, the body of an El Monte woman who disappeared while hiking alone on Mt. Baldy was found Sunday morning, officials said.
On February 7, three more hikers who had been held back on the Bear Canyon Trail by storms the day before were rescued.
The Sheriff’s Department had warned: “Resources are stretched to the limit, and hikers who become lost may face a long wait before help is available.”
After nearly a dozen hikers killed and numerous rescues in recent years, Mt. Baldy has established itself as one of the deadliest hiking spots in the country.
Access to the summit should be restricted, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
The Sheriff’s Department received a report Saturday indicating that Huang’s body may have been seen by someone operating a drone near San Antonia Creek Falls.
Until doctors discovered Huang’s remains early Sunday morning, the air rescue team was unable to search the area due to strong winds.
