Shannon “Shay” Ruth filed a lawsuit against Carter in December 2022, alleging that he molested her on his tour bus when she was 17. Ruth claims Carter invited her on the bus after a concert and forced her to perform non-consensual sexual acts. which caused him to contract HPV. Her lawsuit also cites sexual assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligent infliction of emotional distress as causes of action.

Legal Counterclaims

In response to these allegations, Nick Carter vehemently denied any wrongdoing. His attorney, Dale Hayes Jr., described the charges as part of a coordinated effort to defame and extort Carter.
